Reconciling a historically neglected community and a university campus.

Design 7, UCF Architecture Fall 2020

Parramore, Orlando

This project aims to use a versatile facility to help people from all walks of life find where their passions lie and develop as individuals. The design focuses on crossing, blurring, and penetrating boundaries.

The form is based in the phenomena of social influence by peers and shared experiences creating close relationships. Functions are crisscrossed so that the two communities, both connected by a pursuit of passion, intermingle and ultimately become subdivided based on categories of interest rather than location or circumstance.

Plant life is used to symbolize both personal and community growth, and as the facilities are cared for they subsequently create a green oasis, reducing stress and tension within the metropolitan area.
